A client called asking me to re-set a toilet after the tile contractor finished.

I discovered that this toilet flange had bolts that couldn’t be removed. This is something I have never seen before. I did not know that any toilet flange was designed this way. And I can’t imagine why any plumber would install something like this. These bolts corrode over time and often have to be cut in order to remove a toilet.

The old bolts looked to be in OK shape. But the tile raised up the toilet higher than the bolt.

I cut off the bolts and screwed down a mounting flange. I put the wax ring in place and re-set the toilet.
